How I Got To Work This Morning

Woke up early this morning because of the thunder and lightning, so head into work early. Left the house at 7:30, walked to the C and was informed the station was flooded. Walked over to Atlantic and waited about 5 minutes for the B26 to come, which was jam packed. Got off at Flatbush and tried to catch the 4 at Nevins St. Was informed that it was not running past Wall St and that I should take the 4 outbound to Atlantic Center and catch the N, R, Q or D train. Got off at Atlantic Center and was informed that none of those trains are running and hundreds of people are milling around with no idea how to get anywhere. Decided to walk back home and arrive home at 8:40. Checked NY1 regularly, as well as the MTA website, and find out the A might be running again. Left house again ~10, and wait 20 minutes for an A train that isn't too packed to get on. See the F at Jay St and get on because its empty enough that there are seats. Get to work at 11:40 AM.

I am SO GLAD my company chose this week to hold a meeting in California. I do not think I would have dealt with that well.

How did you get home? Sorry you had to go in yesterday. Hope your block was unaffected. It has been a couple of weeks of strange accidents and weather. Have you finished HP?

Ug! I just stayed home. Our elevators were shut off bc of brownouts, so I wasn't about to risk walking up and down 14 flights of stairs in 100 degree weather,

The trains were running just dandy by the time I left work, so I got home fine, though late since I still needed to get a full days work in (for deadline reasons, not because anyone would have been a stickler about coming in late). But I did put the time in the morning and on the train to good use by reading HP, which I finished last night. Sigh, which it was still going.

So there were brownouts in the area....we got a few calls from Con Ed about that, including one at 10:45 pm, so that explains it.
