A few weeks ago, we saw An Inconvenient Truth and thought it was great and inspring (though depressing at the same time even though I've learned all the stuff in school) and one of the items the suggest everyday people can do is request green power from their power company. I had looked into this when researching green power for work (oh yeah, the added bonus of the job is I got reinspired about how my job does, in some way, make a difference in these matters), but it didn't seem like it was an option available to those of us in NYC on ConEd. Turns out I was wrong. Last night, Sam and I switched over from standard to green power, meaning that our energy will be supplied by wind and small hydro. It costs 1 cent extra per kwH and is NY Sales Tax-free. So go sign up and save the environment.
