The Rising Tide

The Rising Tide by John Barry

Started:1/1/05 (for the second time)

Finished:8/6/05 (with many books in between)

A great book about the history of peoples' attempts to engineer the Mississippi. I started this a couple years ago, but my dad was reading it at the time as well so I never got to finish it. With school, it will probably take me quite a while to get through this.

For anyone who is interested in how the levee system along the Mississippi was created, this is the book for you. Given the destruction in New Orleans, this book seems particularly important. Also very interesting for understanding the change in politcal parties over the early 20th Century.
